The Children’s Ministry Nursery Assistant at Pittman Park UMC is a consistent presence in the lives of our youngest members. They keep children ages 0-5 safe and engaged on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings and other times when childcare is needed. This position works with the Children’s Director to meet the unique needs of young children and their families.

 

Duties include: 

  • Caring for babies and toddlers, including toileting and distributing snacks
  • Implementation of ministry programming, such as Bible stories and songs
  • Monitoring and organizing materials and supplies
  • Working with vetted volunteers
  • Creating rapport with children and parents

 

Duties may also include:

  • Planning activities and programming 
  • Caring for older children
  • Staffing the check-in desk to ensure proper documentation protocols are followed

 

The Children’s Ministry Nursery Assistant is an hourly, part-time employee of Pittman Park reporting to the Children’s Ministry Director.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Experience caring for toddlers
  • Experience caring for infants
  • Successful background check
  • Completion of Safe Sanctuaries Training (provided by Pittman Park)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paid experience working with children ages 0-5 and their parents
  • Training or coursework in the fields of childcare, psychology or education
  • Familiarity with multiple parenting methods/philosophies
  • Participation in a Christian organization or church

 

Approximate Hours:

Sundays 8:45 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.

(subject to change on Easter and Christmas holidays)

Wednesdays 6:15-8:30 p.m. during the school year

Building Stewards at Pittman Park UMC assist the Building Administrator and Church Administrator in preparing the building for the various activities in the building throughout the week.

Duties include:

  • Working with others to maneuver heavy and bulky furniture
  • Moving chairs and tables across the church campus
  • Understanding and implimenting furniture configurations

Duties may also include:

  • Building security
  • Locking and unlocking church doors

Building Stewards are an hourly, part-time employee of Pittman Park reporting to the Church Administrator.

Required Qualifications:

  • 16 years or older
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs and walk long distances
  • Successful background check
  • Available on nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Participation in a Christian organization or church

Approximate Hours:

Hours are flexible, up to 10 hours per week.
