Graduation season has begun!

This past week, Georgia Southern University held commencement in Paulson Stadium and in Savannah. This afternoon, Ogeechee Technical College will hold their commencement ceremonies in Hanner Fieldhouse, and two weeks from now our local high schools will celebrate and send off their seniors.

Tonight, we will celebrate graduation here at Pittman Park as 19 children in our Education Center will cross the stage and receive a diploma for their hard work and scholarship at PPEC. Students from this year’s class will be heading off to elementary schools throughout Bulloch County to continue their education and growth.

How incredible is it that our church has the opportunity to love, nurture, shape, and form these children! At PPEC children learn how to play, sing, be a good friend. They also learn letters, number, colors, shapes, and have numerous hands-on experiences that will help them become good citizens of our community. Still, the most important thing that these children learn is that Jesus loves them and has a purpose for their lives. During tonight’s graduation these children will recite verses of scripture they have learned, will sing songs about life, learning, and faith.

The book of Proverbs tells us:
Train children in the way they should go;
when they grow old, they won’t depart from it

Friends, our church is doing just that. The most important generation for our church to reach is the next generation, and Pittman Park Education Center is one more way we are helping to lay a firm foundation in Jesus Christ for children throughout our community. Who knows, our next mayor, or president, doctor, lawyer, small business owner, or teacher may have taken their first steps into who God created them to be in the halls of PPEC. Let’s keep loving every child into the Kingdom of God!

God bless,
Jonathan Smith
