October is a busy month at Pittman Park! We have lots going on in our children’s, youth, adult, and missions ministries, plus charge conference with other churches from around Statesboro. I hope that you will pay attention to our weekly email updates and listen for announcements at Open Table and on Sunday mornings, so you don’t miss out on all that we have in store.

One simple way to be a part of it all is to serve. Often, we think that membership in a church gains us rights and privileges, like joining a country club, but joining a church actually gives us new responsibilities. We are responsible for raising up our children and youth—a vow we take when we baptize infants. We are responsible for enabling missions, both locally and globally. We are responsible for the care and upkeep of our facilities. We are responsible for reaching out to our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All of these responsibilities give us the opportunity to share our gifts and graces with the Body of Christ.

And I would like to personally invite you to make the choice to serve this month. Join me and a committed group of members here at Pittman Park to not only serve, but enjoy fellowship and community with each other as we do the work of ministry. Here are a few places you can serve this month:

Grace Team – Welcome people to worship on Sundays before the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services.
Fair Booth – Raise funds for missions by working with us at the fair.
Treat Trail – Decorate your trunk and pass out candy for the trunk-or-treat or staff a game station.
Open Table – Prepare the meal in the Fellowship Hall for our Wednesday supper.
XYZ Work Day – Lend a hand with upkeep around the church on Tuesdays at 9 a.m.
Backpack Buddies – Pack meals for children on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

These are just a few of the ways you can get involved and be intentional about serving at Pittman Park. You can sign up to help by calling the church office.

God bless,

Jonathan
