Pittman Park Family,
This Sunday is Pentecost, a day when we remember and celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples and the birth of the church. That movement of the Spirit sent the disciples out into the world to share the good news of Jesus Christ and carry the ministry of making disciples forward.
This week I’ve been thinking about what it might look like for the Spirit to move among us, what God might be inviting us to step forward into, and I want to personally share an opportunity I believe God has been knitting together over the past few years.
Pittman Park has been invited to serve as a sponsoring church for a network of home churches connected through Digital Discipleship and The Online Chapel. These small faith communities meet weekly in homes in Brunswick, St. Mary’s, and Rincon. Led by Rev. Anne Bosarge, this network has been thriving, but after their previous sponsoring church closed, they needed a new conference home.
We have the opportunity to be that home.
Here’s what makes this especially meaningful and where I see the Holy Spirit at work already:
We are already in partnership with Anne through Victory Children’s Outreach, where many of us sponsor and support children in Uganda. It was through Anne’s leadership that we were able to build a home for Frank Ntambe five years ago, a home that became a home church. Anne has preached, taught, shared, and connected with us in so many ways already.

But, you might be wondering, what exactly is a home church?
Home churches are small groups of believers that gather around a shared meal, Scripture, worship, prayer, and honest conversation. They have become places of healing and belonging for people who have experienced church hurt, grief, or spiritual disconnection. Through these home churches, Anne is helping lead our conference and our denomination forward and helping us to recapture the spirit of Acts 2:42-47.
Anne is someone Stephanie and I trust deeply, and this partnership feels like a natural next step in a relationship God has been building for years.
To officially authorize this sponsorship, we will hold a Charge Conference vote on Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary. I’d love to see you there.
As we head toward this new opportunity and our called charge conference, if you have questions, please reach out to me at [email protected] or give me a call at 912-678-5631.
God bless,
Jonathan Smith
