Hi friends,
This is a Pastor’s Corner takeover from Ms. Megan. I am the sherriff of Friends Camp this week, and I am keeping all my favorite deputies on track learning God loves us to infinity… and beyond! I’m happy to report that from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., each morning about 75 children and 30 volunteers have invaded every inch of the Fellowship Hall, Mainstreent kids wing and Sanctuary–plus Conference Room 3 and some of the sidewalk and front lawn.
So far at camp, we have had three birthdays, one new set of braces, one broken shoe and dozens of Toy Story t-shirts.
Our campers have been soaking in all the leaders have been teaching, from bible stories, songs, and our memory verse, to new games and science experiments at Star Command.
Thank you to all the volunteers that have supported Friends Camp this year. It’s clear that you all heard the call when Jesus said to welcome the children, and you are working as unto the Lord.
I want to especially thank:
- Elisa Stevens and Charlotte Bates who have given rides to children without transportation.
- Wendy Doty for volunteering to be Jigglypuff in our skit on Thursday when Lisa had to be out.
- Kevin Cooper for helping to create Star Command and jump in with both feet his first year volunteering.
I also want to recognize Laurie Cigal. She helped us for the last two days, but she is leaving us to volunteer at Camp 7 where she will be serving children in foster care. Pittman Park is sponsoring two children to attend this year, and Laurie goes with our prayers and blessings.
All Glory to God,
Megan Hopkins, Children’s Director
