Job Descriptions for Open Positions
The Children’s Ministry Assistant at Pittman Park UMC helps to implement Children’s Ministry programming on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings for children ages 0-12.
Duties include:
- Caring for babies and toddlers in the nursery, including toileting, distributing snacks and leading activities
- Assisting the lead teacher with lessons and activities for elementary school children, including working with small breakout groups of children
- Assisting children that need extra attention, including children with special needs
- Staffing the check-in desk to ensure proper documentation protocols are followed
- Creating rapport with children and parents
Duties may also include:
- Assisting the lead teacher at special events, such as camp, movie night, egg hunt
- Taking on the role of lead teacher to cover a planned absence
- Assisting the Youth Ministry Director with children ages 12-18
The Children’s Ministry Assistant is an hourly, part-time employee of Pittman Park reporting to the Children’s Ministry Director.
Required Qualifications:
- 18 years or older
- Experience working with children ages 0-5
- Successful background check
- Completion of Safe Sanctuaries Training (provided by Pittman Park)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children of all ages
- Training or coursework in the fields of childcare, psychology or education
- Participation in a Christian organization or church
Approximate Hours:
Sundays 8:45 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
(subject to change on Easter and Christmas holidays)
Wednesdays 6:15-8:30 p.m. during the school year
