A new ministry from Pittman Park is offering homemade pillows and books to children entering foster care or seeking shelter due to family circumstances. Sweet Dreams founder Mickey Martin says, “This will be something that they can have that will be theirs.” She sewed simple pillows with playful patterns and worked with Altrusa Statesboro to match the pillows with a book. Dozens of gifts have already been distributed to DEFACS, Safe Haven, Open Hearts Community Mission, the Outreach Center and the ministry will also supply gifts to Families 4 Families.
If you know of other places where Sweet Dreams can be of help, contact the church office. The ministry can use donations of gently used children’s books or fabric with children’s themes, but most of all, pray the project would comfort children whose life circumstances are so radically changing.
