Pittman Park Missions Fair Booth: A Week of Service and Success

What a week it has been! Pittman Park’s presence at the Fair through our Missions booth has once again been a shining example of how our church serves our community with love and purpose. This year, we once again took on the huge task of running the food booth, offering up a delicious menu of hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries, popcorn, and our wildly popular refillable cups. We are blessed with the idea of a refillable cup from our very own Claire Mikell. Thank you Claire for the inspiration and design! The buzz around the refillable cups was something we never anticipated, but they quickly became a favorite, bringing people back time and time again for refills and more.

However, the success of this booth goes far beyond the food and drinks we sold. Every single dollar raised during the Fair goes directly to our Missions Committee, which works diligently to distribute funds both locally and internationally. Our efforts will help support life-changing missions in the Dominican Republic and Uganda, empowering communities, sharing the gospel, and meeting essential needs. Through your contributions, lives will be impacted, and the love of Christ will be spread across borders. Your dedication at the booth has ripple effects that reach all the way to the communities we are called to serve.

I want to take a moment to reflect on just how much heart and hard work it took to make this booth a success. Running a booth at the Fair for an entire week is no easy feat—it requires long hours, physical labor, and coordination. Yet, Pittman Park members rose to the occasion with such enthusiasm! It was truly inspiring to see so many people show up, not just for their shifts but often coming back to work additional shifts or staying longer to fill the gaps when extra hands were needed. That’s the spirit of our church—each of you stepping up without hesitation to ensure that the booth ran smoothly and that we could raise as much as possible for our missions.

Whether it was preparing and serving food, engaging with fairgoers, or cleaning up after a long day, each of you played a crucial role in making this week a success. You embodied the very essence of what it means to serve others. This level of commitment isn’t something that can be overlooked or taken for granted. It’s a reflection of who we are as a church—a people deeply invested in living out our faith by serving others.

As your Pastor, I have the privilege of seeing how our congregation steps up in moments like this, and I am continuously amazed by your generosity, your dedication, and your passion for missions. Many of you went above and beyond what was asked, and that does not go unnoticed. It’s these acts of service—often unseen and unacknowledged—that speak so loudly about the heart of this community.

This booth wasn’t just about selling food; it was about bringing people together, raising awareness for our missions, and making a real impact. From local missions that serve those in our own backyard to the international work we support in the Dominican Republic and Uganda, you are playing a part in transforming lives. You may not always see the direct results of your service, but know that you are helping to provide hope, food, education, medical care, and most importantly, the gospel, to those who need it most.

To everyone who volunteered, worked behind the scenes, or supported the booth by stopping by, thank you! Your generosity of time, energy, and love has made a lasting difference. We could not have done this without you, and I am so proud to be a part of this amazing church family.

Let’s carry this spirit forward as we continue to serve, give, and show up in ways that honor Christ and build His kingdom. There’s more work to be done, and I know Pittman Park will continue to be a powerful force for good both here at home and around the world.

God bless,
Jonathan Smith
