Rise and Shine in 2025
Dear Pittman Park Family,
Happy New Year! (Or can we still say that when we’re already over halfway through January? Asking for a friend!) Even if it feels a little late, I think the start of the year is worth celebrating, no matter the date. Every new day is a gift, and 2025 is already shaping up to be a year filled with promise and purpose.
This month, our sermon series, “Rise and Shine,” is inspired by Isaiah 60:1: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” What a beautiful reminder that God’s light is not only with us but also within us, calling us to reflect His love to the world around us. Sometimes that feels natural, and other times, it’s a challenge. But in every moment, God’s glory gives us the strength and courage to shine.
This Sunday, we’ll have the joy of commissioning our Leadership Team for 2025 during worship. These leaders have responded to God’s call to serve in some big and important ways this year, and I’m so grateful for their commitment to God’s work here at Pittman Park. This consecration service is a moment for all of us to pray for them, support them, and remind them that they don’t carry this calling alone.
I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we celebrate this new beginning together. Whether you’re already running full speed into 2025 or still feeling like you’re catching up after the holidays, let’s take this moment to pause, reflect, and step boldly into the light of God’s glory. Together, we can rise and shine as His church, sharing His love with our community and beyond.
God bless,
Jonathan Smith
