Many different churches use special cloth drapery to adorn their alter, pulpit and lectern. These cloths are called paraments, and Pittman Park uses them in the Traditional Service to enhance the worship experience. The white paraments are used in celebration at Christmas, Easter, weddings, and baptisms, symbolizing light, purity, and joy. The current white parament set in use at Pittman Park features an IHS Christogram on the pulpit scarf. The symbol is the latinized Greek letters ΙΗΣ, which are the first three letters in the name Jesus when written in Greek, the language of the New Testament. Some use later Latin interpretations of the Christogram as signifying the words Iesus Hominum Salvator, Jesus Savior of Mankind.
