Holding On and Letting Go

This time of year, we turn our attention to a very special group in the life of our church, our graduating seniors. High school is quickly coming to an end, and with it comes a season of celebration, reflection, and big next steps. As a church family, we have the privilege of not just recognizing their accomplishments, but surrounding them with encouragement as they step into what’s next.

And if we’re honest, it’s beautiful… and a little bittersweet. Because we’ve watched many of these seniors grow up. We’ve seen them laugh, lead, struggle, serve, and show up. They’re not just “the graduating class.” They are part of our story.
And now, we get the sacred privilege of sending them.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Deuteronomy 31:8

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

If I could sit across from every senior and say just one thing, it would be this:
You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just keep walking with Jesus.

This year, we’re giving each senior a special gift, a loaded Bible. Not brand new and untouched, but filled. Marked up with prayers, verses, and notes from the people who have walked with them through these years.

So please plan to stop by Conference Room 1, the room across from the church office, where you’ll find each senior’s name and their Bible waiting. Take a moment to stop by. Highlight a favorite scripture. Write a note in the margins. Leave a prayer. There are also postcards nearby if you’d rather write a simple word of encouragement.

It may feel small as you write it… but it won’t feel small when they read it.

Parents of Seniors: Please submit 5 photos and complete this form so we can celebrate your senior well: https://forms.gle/NAQwLEqYdYfjVcdL9

We’ll celebrate our graduates on May 17 in worship, with a chance to pause, smile, maybe tear up just a little, and thank God for who they are becoming. Because this isn’t just about finishing high school. It’s about stepping into calling. It’s about carrying faith into whatever comes next.

So let’s surround them with truth. Let’s cover them in prayer. And let’s send them out knowing they are not alone. But they are seen, known, and loved. And God is not finished with their story.

God Bless, Stephanie
