This Sunday Belongs to Them (and to God’s Future Through Them)

There is something sacred about watching the next generation step forward.

This Sunday at Pittman Park, our students won’t just be participating in worship… they will be leading it. They will greet you at the door, read Scripture, lift their voices in song, offer prayers, and even preach the Word. And if we’re paying attention, we might realize something beautiful: this isn’t just a special Sunday, it’s a glimpse of who the Church is becoming.

Scripture reminds us in 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers…” That’s not just encouragement, it’s a calling. And this Sunday, our students are answering it.

They are not “the church of tomorrow.” They are the Church right now.

You’ll see courage as they step into roles that may feel a little big. You’ll hear honesty in their voices as they share what God is doing in their lives. You’ll feel the energy, the sincerity, and yes, maybe even a few holy nerves along the way. And that’s part of what makes it so meaningful. God has always done powerful things through willing hearts, not perfect ones.
As a church family, this is our moment too.

We get to show up. We get to encourage. We get to listen, really listen, to what God might be saying through them. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll be reminded that faith was never meant to be something we outgrow. It’s something we grow into together.

So come ready. Come expectant. Come cheering them on (maybe with a little extra enthusiasm, it’s allowed this week). Because what you’ll witness isn’t just students leading worship. It’s the Spirit moving through a new generation. And that’s something you don’t want to miss.

God Bless,
Stephanie
