Dear Church Family,

Seventy years. That’s a long time to gather, to pray, to sing, to serve, and to love one another in the name of Jesus Christ. This Sunday, we get to celebrate every bit of it!

I want to personally invite you to our 70th Anniversary Worship Service this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. It’s going to be a special morning of remembering where we’ve been, giving thanks for those who’ve gone before us, and looking with hope toward what God still has in store for Pittman Park. We will have friends and special guests Rev. Kendra Grimes, Rev. Dr. Scott Hagan, and Rev. Bill Bagwell joining us for worship, we will hear “Shout to the Lord for Joy!” a commissioned piece composed by our own Jacob McCooey, and remember the Lord’s faithfulness over the past 70 years and look forward to our next 70 years.

Bring your stories. Bring your memories. Bring a friend or a neighbor who’s been on your heart. There’s room for everyone at the table of God’s grace.

And speaking of tables, the celebration doesn’t stop after the benediction. Right after worship, we’re hosting a good old-fashioned church potluck in the fellowship hall. The church is providing the fried chicken, but we’d love for you to bring a side dish to share. Whether it’s your grandmother’s casserole, your favorite recipe from “What’s Cooking at Pittman Park,” a pan of mac and cheese, a fresh salad, or that dessert everyone always asks you to make, bring it on. Half the joy of a potluck is tasting what your church family pulls out of the kitchen.

Seventy years of faithfulness deserves to be celebrated together. I can’t wait to see you Sunday.

God bless,
Jonathan Smith
