This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series called Generous. It’s about more than money — it’s about learning to live with open hands and open hearts, just as God has been generous to us.
Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8:
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
That’s the vision of generosity! It’s not something forced or reluctant, but something joyful. Not a burden, but a blessing. Generosity is not about losing; it’s about gaining the life that is “truly life” (1 Timothy 6:19).
At Pittman Park, one of our core values is Kindhearted Generosity. Because God has been generous to us, we respond by giving our time, our resources, and our very lives for others. When we live generously, we look most like Jesus.
Over the next four weeks, I want to invite you to consider your own generosity. How do you use your time to bless others? How do you share your talents to serve the church and community? How do you offer your resources to further God’s kingdom? Because we have been blessed by God, we should bless God and others.
This series will culminate with an opportunity to pledge toward our 2026 budget, but the goal is bigger than a budget. It’s about cultivating a culture of generosity in our lives and in our church. It’s about trusting that when we sow generously, God will bring an abundant harvest.
Let’s step into this season together with joy, gratitude, and open hearts.
God bless,
Jonathan
For Jesus. For People. For Community.
