As we journey through Advent, we’re reminded that this season is all about expectation. We look for the light that breaks into our darkness. We wait for the Savior who comes close to us. And we open our hearts to the ways God is still moving among us, shaping us into a people who share His love with the world.
One of the clearest expressions of that love at Pittman Park is Open Table.
Every Wednesday evening, our Fellowship Hall becomes a place where neighbors gather, friendships form, and a hot meal reminds every person who walks through our doors that they matter. Open Table has become a lifeline for many in our community. It’s a place where loneliness gives way to connection, where hunger meets generosity, and where the grace of Jesus is served as faithfully as the food on each plate.
Our Advent Offering has a beautiful legacy of extending Christ’s love far beyond our walls. In recent years, your generosity has helped plant and support a house church in Uganda, strengthened and supported ministry to children there through Digital Discipleship, and provided dependable energy and medical mission support for our clinic in Batey 7 in the Dominican Republic. Over the past four years, this offering has touched thousands of lives, bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ in ways that have created real and lasting transformation. God has used your generosity to build, to heal, and to share hope across the world.
This Advent, we have a special opportunity to continue that legacy close to home. Our Advent Offering will go entirely to support and expand Open Table, and our hope is to raise $10,000. These funds will allow us to enhance our ability to serve, improve our kitchen and meal-prep capacity, and ensure that Open Table remains a steady, welcoming presence for our community, neighbors, and friends.
I believe God is using this ministry in powerful ways. And I believe we are being invited to invest in it so that more people can experience the warmth, care, and belonging we’ve come to know around those Wednesday night tables.
