Honoring Faith in Action

Dear Pittman Park Family,

This past week, I had the incredible honor of standing at the Georgia State Capitol to receive a special proclamation from Senator Billy Hickman and Representative Lehman Franklin. This recognition was not just for me, but for all faith-based organizations, including Pittman Park UMC, that have faithfully served in disaster response efforts.

In the wake of storms, hurricanes, and hardships, the Church has always been at the forefront of bringing hope, healing, and tangible help to those in need. As followers of Christ, we are called to be His hands and feet, meeting people in their moments of greatest need with love and compassion. This proclamation affirms the vital role that churches and faith-based organizations play in responding to crises—not just with words, but with action.

Pittman Park UMC has been part of this movement. From providing meals, shelter, and resources to working alongside UMCOR and local partners, we have lived out our mission to love and serve our neighbors. It is humbling to see our collective efforts acknowledged at the state level, but more importantly, it reminds us that our work is not done. There will always be needs to meet, people to serve, and opportunities to share God’s love in real and practical ways.

Let this recognition be a reminder of the power of faith in action. When we serve together, we become a living testimony of God’s love to our community and beyond. Thank you, Pittman Park, for being a church that doesn’t just talk about the Gospel but lives it out daily.

God Bless,
Stephanie
