Serving and Growing Together at Pittman Park UMC

At Pittman Park UMC, we believe in equipping our church to make a difference, whether in times of crisis or through everyday discipleship. This January, we have two incredible opportunities to serve and grow together—an Early Response Team (ERT) Training and a Catalyst Sunday discipleship training.

Step Up to Serve: Early Response Team Training

Imagine being the hands and feet of Christ in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. Whether it’s cleaning up after a hurricane, clearing debris from a flood, or offering comfort to those in crisis, Early Response Teams (ERTs) bring hope and help when it’s needed most.

On Saturday, January 18, Dr. Glenn Martin, a trainer with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), will lead a one-day ERT Training at Pittman Park UMC. This training equips individuals and teams with the skills to respond effectively and compassionately in times of need.

Participants will receive an ERT Training Manual, a South Georgia Conference ERT T-shirt, and, upon completing the requirements, an UMCOR ID Badge that identifies them as a certified responder. Plus, lunch is included in the $30 registration fee!

Although our January 11 session is already full, we’re excited to offer this new opportunity to join the training on January 18. You can register to join here.

If you’ve been looking for a way to serve others during their most vulnerable moments, this is your chance.

Grow as a Disciple: Catalyst Sunday

Serving is one way to live out our faith, but growing deeper in discipleship is just as important. That’s why we created Catalyst Sundays, a time set aside every couple of months for focused discipleship training.

On Sunday, January 19, we’ll gather in the Fellowship Hall from 10:00 to 11:00 AM to explore practical ways to connect with those in our circles of influence. Whether it’s at work, in your neighborhood, or among friends, this class will help you share Christ’s love in meaningful and impactful ways.

Catalyst Sundays are designed for everyone—whether you’re a seasoned disciple or just beginning your faith journey. Together, we’ll learn tools to deepen our faith and help others encounter Christ.

Come Be Part of Something Bigger

At Pittman Park UMC, we’re more than a church—we’re a community committed to serving and growing in Christ’s love. Mark your calendars for January 18 and 19, and join us as we work together to build God’s kingdom, one act of service and one step of faith at a time.

God bless,
Jonathan
