There are moments in the life of a church that feel sacred before they even begin.

This weekend, March 6–8, our Confirmation students will head to Epworth by the Sea for retreat. By the time you read this, we will be packing bags, loading vans, and stepping into what I believe will be holy ground.

Confirmation is not simply a class it is an ongoing journey of faith.

A time where students begin asking deeper questions.
A time faith starts shifting from “my family believes” to “I believe.”
A time where young hearts begin listening more closely for the voice of God.

I keep thinking about the story of Samuel as a boy in the temple. In the quiet of the night, he heard his name called. He did not recognize it at first. But eventually he responded, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3:9).

Join us in a prayer for this retreat. We are praying for moments of clarity. For students to have the courage to ask honest questions, for their friendships to deepen, and for each of them to experience worship in a way that feels personal and real.

There is something powerful about stepping away from routine. When students unplug from school pressures and busy schedules, God’s voice feels closer.

But this weekend is not just about the students who are going. It is about all of us at Pittman Park.

Psalm 78 reminds us, “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord.” Confirmation is one way we live that out. As a church family, you are part of their journey of faith. Your prayers, encouragement, and investment in the next generation matters.

So as we leave tomorrow (Friday), would you pray for our Confirmands? Pray that God would meet them in a way they cannot forget. Pray that seeds planted over months of learning would take root. Pray that each student would know, deeply and personally, that they are loved by God and called by name.

We are excited and expectant for God to move.

God is shaping something beautiful in these young lives.

With hope,

Stephanie
