“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” — Genesis 1:31 (NRSV)

This week brings so much to celebrate and pray for—from amazing students chasing big dreams to a meaningful gathering of United Methodists across South Georgia.

First up—let’s cheer for our Charles Black Scholarship recipients!
The Charles Black Scholarship was created by Garland and Grace Black in memory of their son, Charles, who was an active part of Pittman Park’s youth group before his life was tragically cut short in a car accident. In the face of heartbreak, Charles’s parents chose to create a legacy of love and encouragement—one that continues to bless our students today.

We are thrilled to celebrate this year’s recipients:

  • Lindsey Collins
  • Ryan Kicklighter
  • Bowen Kicklighter
  • Alaina Landing
  • Andee Mackewicz
  • Nathan Wallace
  • Hannah Weaver

Each of these students is stepping into their future with faith, determination, and the support of this church family. Way to go, y’all—we are proud of you!

Also this week, clergy and lay delegates from across South Georgia (including us!) are heading to Macon for the 2025 South Georgia Annual Conference. We’ll gather at some pretty historic places—Wesleyan College, Vineville UMC, and The Methodist Home—for worship, prayer, big decisions, and yes… barbecue!

The theme this year is “A New Creation,” and we’re leaning into the promise that God is still making things new—in our churches, in our ministries, and in each one of us. Please keep our bishop, our delegates, and all who are traveling in your prayers. There’s important work ahead, and your prayers really do make a difference.

Whether you’re worshiping with us here at home or keeping an eye on conference updates from afar, know this—God is moving, and we get to be part of it.

With gratitude and excitement,
Stephanie
