Friends, The Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair is upon us, and Pittman Park will be right there in the middle of it. If you’ve walked by our food booth in years past, you’ve seen the hand-breaded chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, and our souvenir cups. What you might not see is where every dollar goes.
Every combo meal, every drink, and every refill at our booth supports the ongoing missions and ministry of Pittman Park in the Dominican Republic, in Uganda, and right here in Bulloch County. When someone buys a corndog, they are helping us build relationships with partners across the world and care for neighbors down the road. This is one of the most joyful ways we live out our call to love God and love our neighbor.
Our fair booth runs on volunteers, and there are still spots available to serve. You don’t need any special skills. Just bring a willing heart and a smile. Grab a shift with your Sunday school class, your small group, or your family. You can sign up by clicking here!
Treat Trail Is Coming: Wednesday, October 28
Right on the heels of the fair, we get to open our campus and our doors to the community again for Treat Trail on Wednesday, October 28. We are expecting around 1,000 guests, and we will be serving hot dogs, chips, and drinks to every family who comes through.
This is one of my favorite events of the year! And it’s so easy to invite your friends and neighbors to Pittman Park for food and fun. So, bring the kids, bring the grandkids, bring the family down the street you’ve been meaning to get to know.
There are plenty of places to serve as we reach out to our community at our Treat Trail:
- Provide candy for the trail
- Decorate a car and take part in the trunk or treat SIGN UP HERE
- Serve in the kitchen helping feed our guests VOLUNTEER HERE
- Help operate a game and give out candy VOLUNTEER HERE
- Help with parking and getting to welcome families as they arrive VOLUNTEER HERE
For more information or to get plugged in, contact Megan Hopkins at [email protected].
Whether it’s flipping burgers at the fair or handing out candy from your trunk, these are moments when our church goes outside its walls and becomes a blessing to our community. I hope you’ll find your place to serve and bless others in these next two weeks!
God bless,
Jonathan Smith
