Walking Through “The Story” This Advent

Advent is a time to slow down, reflect, and prepare our hearts for the arrival of Jesus. As we journey toward Christmas, we’ll immerse ourselves in “The Story” of Jesus’ birth in the Gospel of Luke, uncovering the hope, love, joy, and salvation His coming brings.

Each week, we’ll focus on a different part of the story, guiding us closer to the miracle of Christ’s birth:

Week 1: The Backstory (Luke 1:5-25)

We begin with Zechariah and Elizabeth, a couple who longed for a child and were part of God’s plan to prepare the way for the Savior. Zechariah’s encounter with the angel Gabriel teaches us about faith and the hope we have in God’s promises—even when they seem impossible.

Week 2: Seen, Known, and Loved (Luke 1:26-38)

In Week 2, we focus on Mary’s story. A young woman chosen by God to bear His Son, Mary reminds us that we are seen, known, and loved by God. Her willingness to trust in God’s plan inspires us to say, “Let it be to me according to your word,” even when the path ahead is uncertain.

Week 3: Celebrate! (Luke 1:46-55)

This week, we celebrate the birth of Jesus as we hear Mary’s song of praise to God. It’s a monet of joy, worship, and awe as we reflect on God’s gift to the world. Our Christmas Cantata will help us lift our voices in celebration, rejoicing in the One who brings light into the darkness.

Week 4: Salvation, Mercy, Rescue, and Righteousness (Luke 1:68-75)

We conclude our Advent series by reflecting on Zechariah’s song of praise, where he proclaims the salvation, mercy, and rescue that Jesus brings. Zechariah reminds us that God’s promises are fulfilled through Christ, who comes to lead us in righteousness and free us to serve Him in holiness and joy.

Advent invites us to prepare our hearts and rediscover the wonder of Christ’s coming. As we journey through Luke’s Gospel, may we see the beauty of God’s story and open our hearts to His hope, love, joy, and salvation.

Let’s walk through Advent together as we prepare to celebrate the greatest gift of all—the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

God bless,
