As Director of Youth Ministry, Bekah Hoogerwerf can be found presiding over two large tables of teenagers at Open Table each Wednesday or filling the Mainstreet Kids Wing with laughter on Sunday nights. She moved to Savannah a few years ago from the west coast and began serving Park Students in 2021. We asked Bekah a few questions to get to know her a little better.
What did you want to do for a job when you were a child?
I wanted to work as a grocery store clerk. It looked so fun scanning all the items and using the cash register!
What is your favorite thing about working at Pittman Park?
The students say the funniest things and I cry laughing just about every week.
What other jobs have you had outside Pittman Park?
I currently work as a barista at Mirabelle in Savannah. In the past, I have been the manager of a trampoline park.
What is your superpower?
My superpower is being able to fall asleep really fast.
