The first Martha Ross Memorial Blood Drive will be held November 25 at Pittman Park UMC. At their October 6 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the naming of their regular Red Cross blood drives to honor the late church member.

A church member since 1985, Martha Ross was an integral part of the congregation until her death in 2023. After blood drives were paused in 2020 due to COVID pandemic precautions, Ross was instrumental in getting them started back up again. She coordinated with the Red Cross, organized volunteers, and staffed each blood drive.

After Martha died, it took several people to fill her shoes. Donna Bradley, Bobbie Trowbridge and Gail Sisson work together to keep the blood drives going. Donna says of Martha, “She was very organized and had all the shifts covered, even pulling in people to help from outside the church to help.” Donna is happy to report that the blood drives are currently meeting or exceeding their goals each quarter–a fitting tribute to Martha.
