October is a busy month at Pittman Park!

This Sunday, our church will celebrate World Communion Sunday. This Sunday serves as a reminder that as we gather at the Communion Table, we are surrounded by brothers and sisters in Christ and the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us. Join us at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. for First Family Sunday and Holy Communion.

On October 8, we will gather after 11 a.m. worship for a Safe Sanctuaries training for those who volunteer with our children and youth. I hope you’ll attend as we commit to serving the next generation. We will also have a simultaneous gathering to talk about our upcoming construction mission trip to the Dominican Republic on January 20-27, 2024.

October 15 starts a new series called “Parenting in the 21st Century.” This series will help to equip each of us to point the next generation toward Jesus in ways that help them grow and thrive. I’m excited for the opportunity this series will give us to consider our influence on our children and youth.

Fair Week (October 16-21) is a chance for our church to come together for fun and to raise funds to support missions at our Fair Booth. The funds raised here will transform lives in Uganda, the Dominican Republic, and Statesboro as we support missionaries and agencies transforming the world in Jesus’ name. Sign up for a shift during the week by contacting the church office.

During Fair Week, our fellowship hall transformation will continue as new flooring and baseboards are installed. This new flooring will make the Fellowship Hall a more welcoming and beautiful space for worship and our community. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the “Our Hope Is Built” capital campaign! I can’t wait to see how this space will be transformed!

Finally, on October 25, we will host our Treat Trail again! We need your help volunteering with our Children, Youth, and Family Ministries leaders as we host families from across our community for food, fun, and CANDY! If you’d like to volunteer, participate in Trunk or Treat, or donate candy, please get in touch with Megan Hopkins.

Whew!!! That’s a lot! It’s also EXCITING to see how many opportunities we have to gather, grow, worship, and have fun this month at Pittman Park!!!

God bless,
Jonathan
