Last night we took a moment to pause and reflect as we begin our journey through the season of Lent. Over the next 40 days, we are invited to look at our lives, our faith, and the ways we are called to grow in Christ. I hope that as we journey together practicing the disciplines of fasting, prayer, and reading scripture, we arrive at Easter as a resurrected people ready to love and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world.

The journey of Lent, as one of our church members put it, is “a journey from ashes to alleluia.” During worship each week our Lenten journey will take us through the desert of temptation, into conversations with Nicodemus and the Samaritan Woman at the well, to witness a man born blind healed, and Lazarus raised from the dead, before we see Jesus arrive at Jerusalem to loud shouts of “Hosanna!”

Let us enter this season and this journey together in worship, prayer, and yearning for God’s renewal and resurrection. After all, our hope in Christ is that through his death and resurrection that our lives and our world will be renewed and transformed.

God bless,
