Over the past few months, our staff has been receiving discipleship coaching which has been helping us rethink what we are doing as a church, how we are growing, and how we can develop disciples who are committed to knowing and sharing Jesus Christ. Our work with our coach, Dave Rhodes, has led us to this verse from Ephesians 2:22 in the New International Version:

And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

We this verse brought together with Eugene Peterson’s paraphrase of the same verse to give us this rallying cry for our church and staff:

And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.

Friends, God is building us, individually and collectively, into a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit. God is shaping us and forming us through the scriptures, prayer, community, service, and worship into disciples who not only know Jesus, but share Jesus with the world around us.

And we see it happening day after day!

It was a blessing to see so many of you join us for Open Table last night! Not only that, it was incredible to see the number of children and youth who stayed for small groups and adults who came to the Jonah study and stayed for Choir and Handbells. Friends, it’s happening at Pittman Park! God is moving and inviting us to be a part of transforming our community for Jesus Christ.

I hope you’ll join us as we grow together into a church that is building faith-filled communities to transform our community for Jesus Christ.

God bless,
Jonathan Smith
