Thursday Night, July 17, Pastor Jonathan Smith participated in an Onboarding session along with church staff and leadership. The session was facilitated by Anne Bosarge, Director of Leadership Strategies and Local Church Resources from the South Georgia Conference. In most churches, Onboarding is a chance for new pastors and their congregation to get to know one another and plan for the future. Since Pittman Park and Pastor Jonathan are already acquainted from his time as Associate Pastor, the session was geared more toward identifying church strengths and needs. Themes emerging from the session included intentional discipleship, rising above division, and worship. Jonathan was implored to keep loving Jesus and not burn out, and leadership was invigorated to support and protect pastor Jonathan and his family–and offer gluten-free options at Open Table.
