I want to start by saying thank you for your generosity in supporting our REACH fund. Your gifts are helping us help others in their moments of deepest need. I also want to encourage you, if you haven’t yet given, to partner with us as we seek to serve some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community.  You can simply write REACH FUND on the memo line of your check or give online at pittmanpark.org/give and select the REACH FUND to designate your gift.

This past Sunday I preached on the Parable of the Good Samaritan where Jesus invites us to meet the needs of our neighbors by meeting them in their moments of deepest need. I believe that giving is a great first step in reaching our community and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It takes courage and trust to give, and a belief that the funds you share are going to truly make a difference. So, again, thank you for giving!

Still, giving is just a first step. There’s also a next step!

The Good Samaritan didn’t just give to help the man who was beaten by robbers, he tended to the man, cleaned him up, and put him on his donkey. The Good Samaritan served the man who was in need and is an example for us in how to love those around us. We don’t just want to be a church that gives to our community, we want to be a church that serves our community. And there are loads of places that you can get involved in serving.  Here are just a few easily accessible options:

Backpack Buddies and Can-Do Ministries – Contact Lauri Cigal

Rebecca’s Café – Contact Nancy Malcolm

Feed The Boro – Click Here to Volunteer

Habitat For Humanity – Click Here To Volunteer

My hope is that we become a church that loves Statesboro and Bulloch County. That we become church that is known across our community for the ways is loves and serves. Thank you for taking your first step by giving. Now, let’s take a next step into service.

God bless,

Jonathan
