This weekend many families will be gearing up to head out of town for Winter Break. Weeks off from school often afford families time to be and grow together as they travel, explore, and simply spend time in each other’s presence. If you’re heading out of town this week, please know that you are in my prayers. If your break is going to be a little more simple, or if you are going to have no break at all, work in some time this week to be with friends and family creating moments of connectedness. For my family, those moments happen when we are together watching a movie, playing a board game (the girls’ favorite is Ms. Monopoly), or being together outside. However your break looks I pray that you might find rest and re-creation through your time away and through time together.

While school’s out Rebecca’s Café is in. As you may know, Rebecca’s Café is a food ministry supported by local churches throughout Statesboro. This week is our week to serve and deliver food to families who are in need. We could use some extra hands in preparing sandwiches at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday and a few people who would be willing to drive the meals (4-6) from First Presbyterian Church to a designated pick up location.

Serving at Rebecca’s Café is simple, safe, and fun, and by serving you will be making a real impact on the lives of our neighbors who are experiencing hunger. This is one simple way that we can be the hands and feet of Christ, as well as be the change that we want to see in the world. If you’d like to help, simply comment below this post and we will get you connected, or feel free to call the church office 912-681-3213.

Please know that I am praying for you this week! Enjoy some time away, some time together, and the opportunity to grow and love others.

God bless,

Jonathan Smith
